The first step to becoming a Medicare provider is to complete your enrollment application and receive your Provider Transaction Access Number (PTAN) and National Provider Identifier (NPI). How Do I Become a Medicare Provider?

Obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI). NPIs are a unique health care provider identifier and are issued through the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES).

Complete the Medicare Enrollment Application. You can enroll in Medicare using PECOS, the online Medicare enrollment system.

What to Expect
The average processing time of a properly submitted application is 15 days after it is received by Palmetto GBA. You will receive confirmation of your enrollment via email. You can check your enrollment status using the link below.
